Well you do need a degree. Almost any degree will work (for many subjects).

There is the teachers college in Toronto (used to be adjacent Kipling and Lakeshore ? west end). it has a listing of all the requirements as well as the ministry of education. A call, e-mail or other contact should net you the information you require.
They also should have the listing of all the universities offering teaching related courses.

Teachers usually make not too bad money, starting I contemplate over 30k. Ask when you contact. Remember though that each district pays differently. Therefore a teacher in Thunderbay will be paid differently than a teacher in Mississauga.

In high schools in Ontario they try to provide the info and have you make a career choice by grade 10. Thereby taking courses that provide the basic knowledge for college or uni courses required for the career. The high schools also have career info available (not all careers though).

In response to yuor add-on, yes, why not. You can have several degrees. In consequentlyme cases this helps gain a teaching job easier.
